PCI Security Compliance

I attempted to process the fourth deposit, for a guest, on a credit card on file but received the following message:

“per PCI security compliance the card on file was purged 60 days after the event date”

We have a few questions about this - is the event date and last transaction date the same? What are the options available for the resort to be able to charge a card on file before we ask the guest to provide their credit card information again? Can you please provide more detail about this process so i can relay it to all of our departments that this would affect? thanks!
